Accommodation

All students coming from outside the university area (which includes the town of Rende and the city of Cosenza in a radius of 30 km) may be accommodated in the University residences in the Campus (“Maisonettes” “Martensson, Molicelle, Nail) or in apartments owned by the university in the new residential areas of Rende near the University in the districts of Roges, Commenda and Quattromiglia.

To see other pictures of the residences link at http://www.unical.it/portale/strutture/centri/residenziale/photogallery/ Living away from home in a residence hall for the first time is a big adjustment even if still a challenging occasion for personal development and socialisation with people of other nationalities with different habits and traditions.

Lodging, meals, grants, transport facilities, first aid medical treatments and sport facilities are also provided by the “Centro Residenziale” (C.R.):

Such number is expected to satisfy all incoming students’ demands, if they apply in time.
Applications for accommodation by Erasmus students should be sent to the Sector for Lifelong Learning/Erasmus no later than the end of July for the 1st semester, and no later than the end of December for the 2nd semester. The online application form can be found at the following link:

Incoming students will be accommodated in double rooms to share. All rooms are furnished and have shared bathroom facilities. All students have access to shared kitchen facilities for self-catering.
Living on campus has many advantages. There is a large and friendly community of students and staff, all the facilities on campus are readily available and there are no daily travelling expenses. The monthly rate for accommodation on campus is about € 150 per month and the rent for periods shorter than a month are charged at € 5 per day.
Furthermore, students must give in a money deposit of € 50 for bed linen and for the issue of a magnetic card for meals. Such money deposit will be returned to the students, at the time of their departure, upon return of the bed linen and of the magnetic card. The cost for a meal on campus is € 4,18.
For registration in the University residences, incoming students are requested to bring with them a valid identification document (passport or other), a passport photo and a recently issued general Health Certificate (in Italian or in English) that testifies they are in good health conditions and have no contagious diseases.
Accommodation for married students and for students with families may be found in private houses or flats in the surrounding areas but it is almost essential to have transport means.
Moreover, if a student wishes to live off-campus it is also possible to share houses with other students who have similar needs.
